**Title**Planned Missions
**Standard Text**Upcoming missions that have been established but have not yet begun.
**Heading**Overview
**Standard Text**Planned Missions brings together focused pieces of roleplay that are being prepared for future play. Each has developed beyond a general possibility or roleplay hook: there is a recognizable situation, objective, assignment, investigation, expedition, conflict, or problem for characters to respond to, even though the roleplay itself has not yet started.
Use this page to discover upcoming opportunities, see which missions are seeking additional participants, and identify situations that may provide a believable connection for your character.
A planned mission does not determine what will ultimately happen. Objectives may change, information may prove incomplete, plans can fail, and participants may approach the same situation in very different ways. Preparation establishes the circumstances. Roleplay determines the outcome.

**Heading**Browse Planned Missions
**Standard Text**Planned mission listings appear here as upcoming roleplay is established.
A listing should provide enough information for players to understand the premise, expected setting, participation availability, and reasonable ways a character might become involved without revealing discoveries or outcomes intended to emerge through play.

**Standard Text**[Provide a concise summary of the situation and current objective. Explain what has brought the mission into existence and what participating characters are expected to respond to at the beginning. Preserve uncertainty where information is incomplete, disputed, hidden, or intended to be discovered through roleplay.]
[Briefly describe the most useful ways characters might become involved. These may include affiliations, professions, relationships, location, expertise, obligations, personal interests, contracts, assignments, or other circumstances. Present these as possible connections rather than requirements.]

**Heading**Reading a Planned Mission
**Standard Text**Every mission on this page has the same status: Planned. Participation is recorded separately so that players can tell whether additional characters are currently welcome.
**List**
* Open — Additional characters are currently welcome when they have a believable way to become involved.* Limited — Additional participation may be possible depending on the character, story, available space, or circumstances.* Closed — The mission is already organized around its intended participants and is not presently seeking additional characters.
**Standard Text**Where useful, a mission listing may also identify an expected timeframe, starting location, related campaign, originating roleplay hook, relevant organizations, and a coordinator or player to contact.
These details are player-facing information. Reading a mission page does not automatically give a character the same knowledge in-character. Restricted assignments, classified information, private requests, secret locations, criminal opportunities, personal relationships, or other non-public circumstances should still require a believable way for the character to learn about them.
**Heading**Joining a Planned Mission
**Standard Text**Start with the circumstances of your character rather than looking only for a mission designed around their faction, class, or abilities.
A believable connection might come from military or organizational orders, employment, professional expertise, personal relationships, local ties, debts, favors, investigation, reputation, financial interest, shared enemies, ideology, curiosity, criminal opportunity, or simply being affected by the situation.
Different characters do not need to approach the objective in the same way. A medic, soldier, investigator, diplomat, slicer, scholar, mercenary, technician, criminal contact, Jedi, Sith, civilian specialist, or local resident may each have a different reason to participate and a different idea of what a successful outcome would look like.
If a mission is marked Limited, or if involvement would require access to private relationships, restricted information, sensitive operations, or another player's established continuity, coordinate with the relevant participants before assuming that connection.
If the situation is still only a possibility without an established mission or objective, **RP Hooks** (https://www.starforgerp.com/roleplay/rp-hooks) may be the better place to begin.
**Heading**When the Mission Begins
**Standard Text**A mission remains Planned until roleplay actually begins.
Once participants begin playing the mission, its status should change to Active and the record should move to **Active Missions** (https://www.starforgerp.com/roleplay/missions/active). Participation can remain Open, become Limited, or become Closed depending on whether believable opportunities for additional characters still exist.
Beginning the mission does not lock its original plan into continuity. The active record should develop according to what actually happens through roleplay: discoveries, mistakes, disagreements, changed objectives, unexpected participants, successes, failures, and consequences.
If a planned mission is abandoned before any roleplay takes place, it does not need to be treated as a concluded story. If its underlying situation remains useful, it may instead return to **RP Hooks** (https://www.starforgerp.com/roleplay/rp-hooks) as an unresolved opportunity that could develop differently in the future.
**Heading**Connections to Larger Stories
**Standard Text**A planned mission may stand alone or belong to a broader **Campaign or Story Arc** (https://www.starforgerp.com/roleplay/campaigns-story-arcs).
When a mission connects to an existing campaign, organization, character, location, earlier story, or roleplay hook, its record should link to those entries wherever the relationship helps players understand why the mission is happening.
Not every planned mission needs to be part of a larger narrative. A single investigation, rescue, delivery, expedition, negotiation, criminal job, security problem, or local emergency can provide worthwhile roleplay without becoming a campaign.
What matters is that the mission gives characters a meaningful situation to respond to while leaving enough room for their choices to determine what follows.
