Explore Characters
The Character Directory groups documented characters by broad affiliation. Explore their dossiers for personal histories, relationships, work, familiar places, and present circumstances. A directory grouping offers a starting point; individual records explain the loyalties and connections behind it.
Use Create Character to develop a new concept or bring an existing character into the shared setting. Begin with their everyday life, motivations, capabilities, limitations, and a reason to encounter others. Leave room for experience to change them.

How Character Dossiers Work
A dossier explains who a character is now and preserves the experiences that help readers understand them. Relationships, changed responsibilities, lasting injuries, discoveries, and unresolved obligations can remain important after the original roleplay ends.
The Character Dossier Guidelines explain how to select useful detail, represent shared history, and maintain that continuing record. Use the Blank Character Dossier when preparing a character’s page.
Dossiers inform readers; characters need their own reasons to know what those records contain. Distinguish established facts from rumors, beliefs, and incomplete accounts. Keep private knowledge within its in-character boundaries, and leave revealing details unpublished when players also need to remain unaware.

A familiar workplace, request for expertise, mutual contact, or unfinished promise can give characters a reason to meet. Read the connected records to understand what is already established and where a new interaction could begin.
Lore — Explore the cultures, institutions, beliefs, and technologies that influence a character’s life.
Galaxy — Find homes, workplaces, destinations, and recurring meeting places.
Timeline — Place personal experiences alongside significant history and shared events.
Roleplay — Follow developing stories and earlier adventures whose consequences continue.
