Privacy Policy

StarForgeRP is a community-built archive and reference resource for collaborative roleplay involving characters played on the Star Forge server in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information StarForgeRP may handle in connection with the website, how that information may be used or published, and what choices players and visitors have regarding information associated with them.

StarForgeRP is primarily intended to preserve fictional characters, stories, locations, organizations, lore, relationships, events, and shared roleplay continuity. Some parts of the archive may also contain limited information about a player when that person chooses to provide it for attribution, communication, roleplay discovery, or another relevant purpose.

Information You Provide

StarForgeRP may receive personal information when you contact the site, submit material for possible inclusion in the archive, request a correction or update, raise a privacy or rights concern, or otherwise communicate with those maintaining the project.

Depending on what you choose to provide, this may include:

• a player name, display name, attribution name, or online handle

• an email address, preferred contact method, or other contact identifier

• roleplay availability, preferences, or participation information

• information submitted with a character dossier, story, organization, location, artwork, or other archive contribution

• information needed to identify an existing page, contribution, or record

• correspondence concerning submissions, corrections, removals, continuity, permissions, attribution, moderation, technical issues, or administration

Only provide information reasonably necessary for the purpose of your request. StarForgeRP does not need passwords, financial information, government identification numbers, home addresses, or similarly sensitive real-world information for ordinary archive participation.

Information Intended for Publication

Most information published on StarForgeRP concerns fictional characters, organizations, locations, stories, events, and roleplay continuity rather than the real-world identities of participants. 

Some archive entries may nevertheless include limited player-facing information when a participant chooses to make it public. This might include a player handle, attribution name, preferred contact method, roleplay availability, or similar information useful for identifying a contribution or arranging roleplay. 

Information specifically submitted for publication may become publicly accessible if the contribution is accepted. Information provided privately for a question, correction, rights concern, or administrative request is not automatically treated as material intended for publication. 

Only provide player information for publication when the person it identifies knows that the information may be made public and is comfortable having it associated with the relevant archive entry. 

Technical and Usage Information

StarForgeRP is hosted through Google Sites. When you visit the website, Google may process technical information associated with your use of its services, such as browser or device information, IP address, interactions with the service, cookies or similar technologies, and related usage information. 

Google's collection and processing of that information is governed by Google's own privacy practices. StarForgeRP does not necessarily receive every category of technical information that Google processes simply because the website is hosted through Google Sites. 

Information provided to StarForgeRP may be used when reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, organize, and preserve the archive. Uses may include:

• reviewing, preparing, publishing, and maintaining archive contributions

• identifying or crediting the player or contributor associated with material when appropriate

• displaying player-facing information that a participant has chosen to make public

• communicating about submissions, corrections, updates, removals, questions, or administrative matters

• preserving continuity between characters, relationships, stories, organizations, locations, and events

• investigating attribution, permissions, rights, moderation, misuse, technical, or security concerns

• maintaining administrative records reasonably necessary for operating the project

• complying with applicable legal requirements

StarForgeRP is designed as a persistent roleplay archive. Information intentionally incorporated into character dossiers, stories, event records, timelines, organization entries, location pages, or other public material may remain available after the roleplay in which it originated has concluded.

Public pages may be viewed by anyone with access to the website. They may also be indexed by search engines, linked or quoted elsewhere, or retained in caches, archives, screenshots, or copies outside StarForgeRP's direct control. Removing information from StarForgeRP therefore cannot guarantee that every external copy will also disappear.

The archival purpose of StarForgeRP does not require unnecessary real-world personal information to remain public indefinitely. A participant may request that a player handle, contact method, availability, or similar personal identifier associated with them be corrected, removed, or replaced where reasonably possible.

Removing player-identifying information does not necessarily require removing the fictional character, story, relationship, event, or other continuity associated with it. Where appropriate, StarForgeRP may remove or anonymize personal information while preserving fictional material and established shared history.

Google may use cookies and similar technologies in connection with Google Sites and other Google services used to operate, secure, provide, or measure features of the website. Your browser or device may provide controls for blocking, deleting, or otherwise managing cookies, although restricting them may affect some website or embedded features.

StarForgeRP may also contain links to or embedded material from independently operated services, including Google services, Discord, Star Wars: The Old Republic resources, or other websites used for roleplay, research, communication, files, images, or reference material.

When you follow an external link or interact with an embedded third-party service, that provider's own terms and privacy practices may apply. StarForgeRP does not control how independently operated third parties collect, use, retain, or disclose information.

StarForgeRP may make information available to other people when publication is part of the purpose for which the information was provided. For example, a player handle or preferred roleplay contact method may be displayed when a participant specifically provides it for inclusion in a public character dossier.

Information may also be made available to service providers to the extent reasonably necessary to host, store, process, preserve, or present the archive. Information may additionally be disclosed when reasonably necessary to respond to valid legal requirements, investigate misuse or security concerns, protect legal rights or the safety of participants or others, or comply with applicable law.

How long information remains associated with StarForgeRP depends on why it is being kept.

Fictional characters, stories, organizations, locations, timeline records, campaign material, relationships, and other continuity information may be preserved for the long term because maintaining a persistent historical archive is one of StarForgeRP's primary purposes.

Personal information used only for communication or administration should not be retained longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, subject to legitimate technical, archival, security, dispute-resolution, recordkeeping, or legal needs.

Player information intentionally published with an archive entry may remain there until it is updated or removal is requested. Where practical, unnecessary personal identifiers may be removed or anonymized without deleting the fictional continuity associated with them.

You may ask StarForgeRP to review personal information associated with you. Depending on the circumstances, you may request that publicly displayed player information be corrected or updated, that an unnecessary contact method or other personal identifier be removed, or that StarForgeRP identify personal information it maintains about you.

StarForgeRP may need enough information to locate the relevant record and reasonably verify that a request concerns you before making a change. Requests involving collaborative material may also need to distinguish between personal information belonging to a player and fictional continuity involving characters or contributions created by multiple participants.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional legal rights concerning personal information. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit rights provided by applicable law.

Do not submit another person's private or sensitive real-world information to StarForgeRP without an appropriate reason and their permission.

This is separate from documenting fictional relationships and shared continuity. An archive entry may appropriately describe another fictional character, organization, event, or relationship when relevant to established roleplay, but that does not make private information about the player behind a character appropriate for publication.

StarForgeRP is not intended for children under 13 and does not seek personal information from children under 13.

Do not submit personal information concerning a child under 13 through StarForgeRP. If StarForgeRP becomes aware that such information has been submitted or published, it may be reviewed and removed as appropriate.

StarForgeRP takes reasonable care when handling information that is not intended to be public and seeks to limit access to information that is needed for site operation or administration.

This Privacy Policy may be revised as StarForgeRP develops, information practices change, new services or features are introduced, or legal and administrative requirements change.
