**Heading**
Overview
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk is a remote, arid world of rocky plateaus, deep ravines, excavated terrain, abandoned industrial sites, and scattered areas where water and vegetation break through the otherwise harsh landscape. Its limited early development centered on mineral extraction rather than permanent large-scale settlement.
That mining project ended catastrophically around 3663 BBY, when an unusual nebula and the ionic storm surrounding Ruhnuk disrupted surface operations, communications, and navigation. Mining personnel evacuated, equipment was abandoned, and the planet was largely avoided afterward.
Decades later, the same isolation made Ruhnuk valuable for a very different reason. Heta Kol's **Hidden Chain** (https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/organizations/hidden-chain) established its principal base of operations among the old mining works. Shae Vizla's pursuit of Heta brought opposing **Mandalorians** (https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/factions-powers/mandalorians) to the planet during Showdown on Ruhnuk.
For roleplay, Ruhnuk is most useful as an isolated expeditionary setting: difficult to approach, sparsely developed, filled with abandoned infrastructure, and shaped by both an industrial disaster and a later Mandalorian conflict.
**Image / Photo — Optional**
**Suggested Placement:** Immediately below the Overview.
**Suggested Subject / Description:** A wide Ruhnuk environment showing weathered rocky plateaus and canyon walls cut by abandoned SWTOR-era mining infrastructure. Industrial machinery, tunnel mouths, freight structures, and ruined excavation works should establish the planet's mining history. A lower ravine may contain a limited ribbon of water and hardy native vegetation, demonstrating that Ruhnuk is arid without depicting it as uniformly lifeless. The hazy sky should suggest the planet's surrounding ionic disturbance without turning the scene into an exaggerated lightning storm.
**Suggested Format:** 4:3 landscape website image.
**Visual Continuity:** Match the realistic cinematic presentation used for other StarForgeRP environmental artwork. The planet should remain the primary subject rather than any individual character. Industrial structures should have enough scale and detail to remain recognizable at approximately 440 × 330 px.
**Era / Lore Requirements:** Use SWTOR-era mining machinery, structures, equipment, and technology. Ruhnuk should remain predominantly dry, rocky, dusty, and plateau-based while allowing a smaller water-fed vegetated area. Do not introduce a major city, ancient civilization, enormous population center, later-era Imperial or New Republic architecture, or an invented explanation for the ionic storm.
**Reference Material:** Official SWTOR Game Update 7.2 environmental imagery establishes Ruhnuk's dry plateaus and canyon landscape. In-game environmental references to the Overgrown Mining Site establish flowing water, vegetation, and industrial ruins elsewhere in the explored region. Use these only for lore and environmental continuity; create an original composition rather than reproducing an existing screenshot or artwork.
**Recommended Alt Text:** Rocky Ruhnuk plateaus cut by abandoned mining works, with a water-fed vegetated ravine beneath the storm-shrouded sky.
**Image Generation Prompt**
**Image Subject**
Ruhnuk during the SWTOR era: a remote, dry mining world dominated by broad weathered rock plateaus, steep canyon walls, dusty exposed ground, and deep excavation cuts. Abandoned Old Republic-era industrial infrastructure crosses the landscape, including mining machinery, reinforced tunnel entrances, freight structures, utility equipment, and partly deteriorated processing works left from the former Gatressa Mining Conglomerate operation.
The central composition should emphasize the scale and isolation of the abandoned mining landscape. In a lower ravine or secondary portion of the scene, include a modest flow of water with hardy vegetation and alien plant life growing around older industrial structures, showing that Ruhnuk is arid but not uniformly barren.
The sky should be hazy and atmospherically disturbed by Ruhnuk's surrounding ionic storm and unusual nebula. The effect should suggest dangerous electromagnetic conditions and isolation without covering the entire scene in spectacular lightning.
No large city or established civilian metropolis should be visible. No major population should be implied. Small abandoned structures, distant equipment, or a few indistinct expeditionary figures may be included for scale, but the landscape and ruined industrial environment should remain the primary subjects.
Mining structures, equipment, vehicles, terminals, and machinery should follow SWTOR and Old Republic-era design language. Do not depict later Galactic Empire, New Republic, First Order, or other later-era designs.
Do not depict a known cause for the ionic storm. Do not add Sith ruins, Jedi temples, ancient superweapons, giant archaeological structures, or invented Mandalorian monuments merely for spectacle.
**Core Prompt**
Create an original 4:3 visual for the StarForgeRP website based on the Image Subject described above.
Use a realistic, cinematic concept-art presentation appropriate to Star Wars: The Old Republic and the broader Old Republic era. The image should feel grounded, detailed, atmospheric, and believable, with restrained visual storytelling rather than exaggerated spectacle.
Maintain visual compatibility with the broader StarForgeRP artwork collection without forcing every subject into identical colors or lighting. Dark blue, navy, charcoal, muted metallic tones, cool environmental light, and selective warm gold or amber illumination may provide a recurring visual foundation where appropriate. Allow the natural colors of a character, world, culture, environment, object, or scene to remain recognizable when they are important to the subject.
Compose the scene according to what it needs to communicate. Characters, locations, landscapes, historical scenes, artifacts, architecture, starships, organizations, cultural subjects, technology, and archival compositions do not require identical framing. Give the primary subject a clear visual focus while allowing the surrounding environment to provide useful context, scale, and atmosphere.
Prioritize SWTOR-era and Old Republic-era visual language. Clothing, armor, architecture, starships, weapons, equipment, terminals, droids, vehicles, furnishings, and other technology should feel appropriate to that period when they appear. Avoid designs strongly associated with later Star Wars eras unless the individual Image Subject specifically requires them.
When the subject is tied to a particular faction, organization, culture, location, historical period, or StarForgeRP development, follow the supplied lore and continuity information rather than replacing it with generic Star Wars imagery.
Do not invent lore-significant uniforms, insignia, technology, architecture, symbols, relationships, events, or outcomes merely to make the image more elaborate.
When an uncertain detail is not necessary to the composition, it may remain visually unspecified.
Where appropriate, use environmental depth, atmospheric haze, practical or holographic illumination, weather, planetary terrain, architecture, machinery, interiors, crowds, distant activity, or culturally appropriate surroundings.
Background detail should support the primary subject and help establish the setting without overwhelming the composition.
For original StarForgeRP characters and other community-created subjects, follow supplied descriptions and reference material when available.
Preserve specifically requested identifying features, proportions, clothing, equipment, markings, colors, or other established design elements while creating a new composition rather than closely reproducing unrelated artwork.
If no reference image is supplied, create an original interpretation from the written description. Do not request a reference merely because one could improve precision.
Weapons should appear only when relevant to the subject.
Lightsabers should not be added merely as general Star Wars decoration; include them only when they meaningfully belong to the character, event, location, activity, or subject being depicted.
Do not include titles, captions, logos, borders, watermarks, webpage elements, decorative written language, readable interface labels, or other visible text unless the individual Image Subject specifically calls for them.
Compose the artwork for a 4:3 frame.
Keep important faces, characters, objects, landmarks, vehicles, and other essential visual information comfortably within the composition, with enough surrounding space to prevent important details from being lost near the edges.
The primary subject should remain recognizable and readable when the image is displayed on StarForgeRP at approximately 440 × 330 px.

Environment & Hazards
**Subheading**
Plateaus, Ravines & Mining Scars
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk's explored landscape is dominated by rock, dust, plateaus, steep drops, crevasses, and terrain heavily altered by extraction. Mining machinery, tunnels, freight routes, processing areas, utility systems, and excavated passages remain embedded throughout the region.
The world is not uniformly barren. Water flows through portions of the explored landscape, and vegetation and native wildlife become more visible around areas such as the overgrown mining works and ravines. The contrast between exposed industrial ground and recovering natural areas gives different parts of Ruhnuk distinct conditions for travel and exploration.
A crossing through open excavation terrain may involve exposure, unstable slopes, machinery, and long sightlines. A tunnel expedition instead brings enclosed industrial hazards, damaged infrastructure, uncertain routes, and limited options for retreat. Water facilities and greener ravines introduce their own concerns, including wildlife, access to resources, and control of functioning infrastructure.
**Subheading**
The Ionic Storm
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk's defining strategic hazard is the ionic storm surrounding the planet and nearby space.
Trade records connect the collapse of the old mining operation around 3663 BBY with an extraplanetary event and the arrival of an unusual nebula. Dust storms disrupted surface work while energy disturbances interfered with communications and coordination. The lingering storm continued to make navigation unreliable long after the miners abandoned the world.
Approaching Ruhnuk can therefore be dangerous enough to threaten incoming ships, while communications with vessels or people beyond the affected region may be unreliable. The planet remains reachable—as the events surrounding the Hidden Chain demonstrate—but a journey to Ruhnuk should not feel equivalent to routine traffic through a major commercial system.
The underlying cause of the nebula and storm is not established clearly enough to justify assigning it a specific technological, Sith, Jedi, supernatural, or other origin.

History
**Subheading**
The Gatressa Mining Operation
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk attracted little major investment before the Gatressa Mining Conglomerate established a comparatively limited extraction operation there. Early deposits of calcite and derillium produced better-than-expected returns, encouraging Project Overseer Fent Jucalla to direct resources toward expanding surface infrastructure.
The favorable conditions did not last. The richest and easiest deposits were depleted rapidly, leaving output below expectations after resources had already been committed to expansion.
That failing business position became a disaster when the unusual nebula reached Ruhnuk.
**Subheading**
The Catastrophe on Ruhnuk
**Standard Text**
Dust storms slowed production as the nebula affected the planet, while worsening energy disturbances interrupted communication between different parts of the operation. Construction and drilling droids lost contact with their master control systems but continued carrying out tasks, creating deadly conditions inside the mining works. Contemporary reports describe uncontrolled drilling and workers being trapped by construction activity.
The evacuation that followed was haphazard. Communications with Gatressa headquarters were not restored until evacuation ships had escaped the nebula, leaving equipment and a substantial investment behind. Ore shipments ceased, and the world returned to isolation.
Those abandoned works remain one of Ruhnuk's most useful features for later stories. Damaged machinery, sealed passages, surviving utility systems, forgotten records, unstable excavations, and other discoveries are plausible possibilities, but their specific contents should be established through roleplay rather than treated as predetermined lore.

Heta Kol & the Hidden Chain
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk returned to galactic attention when Heta Kol and the **Hidden Chain** (https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/organizations/hidden-chain) occupied the abandoned mining world as their principal base.
The location offered several practical advantages. Dangerous approaches and unreliable communications discouraged casual traffic, while the mining complex supplied extensive existing infrastructure that could be occupied, repaired, fortified, or repurposed.
Shae Vizla eventually followed Heta to Ruhnuk, bringing the Mandalorian struggle to the planet during Showdown on Ruhnuk. The fighting spread through mining sites, tunnels, industrial facilities, and a reconstructed combat arena. Heta escaped the immediate confrontation, and surviving Hidden Chain forces remained on Ruhnuk afterward even as the wider conflict continued elsewhere.
**Subheading**
After the Hidden Chain
**Standard Text**
In StarForgeRP's present-day continuity, Ruhnuk should no longer be treated as Heta Kol's active headquarters. Later events brought Heta's campaign and the wider Hidden Chain rebellion to a major defeat, while the available material does not comprehensively establish the later condition of every camp, tunnel, facility, or group once stationed on Ruhnuk.
That uncertainty leaves room for local stories without restoring the old rebellion wholesale. An abandoned position, isolated former occupant, temporary expedition, salvage team, survey group, or newly established small installation can fit the setting when its circumstances are established through roleplay.
For the wider aftermath of the Mandalorian conflict, see **Current Setting** (https://www.starforgerp.com/timeline/current-setting) and **Hidden Chain** (https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/organizations/hidden-chain).

Explored Sites
**Subheading**
Excavation Site
**Standard Text**
The Excavation Site is the largest major industrial area explored on Ruhnuk. Heavy mining has reshaped the terrain, leaving extensive machinery, exposed workings, freight infrastructure, tunnel access, and later Hidden Chain defenses.
Connected areas include the Freight Center, Ruined Dig Site, and Reconstructed Combat Arena. Together they make the region particularly suitable for stories involving industrial recovery, sabotage, searches, damaged equipment, firefights among heavy machinery, or attempts to determine what portions of the old works remain usable.
**Subheading**
Overgrown Mining Site & Verdant Ravine
**Standard Text**
The Overgrown Mining Site marks a transition between heavily excavated terrain and Ruhnuk's more natural environment. Water, vegetation, canyon passages, and older mining works overlap here, with routes leading toward the Reclaimed Mining Site and surrounding tunnel systems.
This part of the planet is useful when a story needs the ruins of industrial development without presenting the environment as nothing but exposed desert and machinery.
**Subheading**
Waterworks & Treatment Infrastructure
**Standard Text**
The Dilapidated Waterworks and Water Treatment Plant demonstrate the supporting infrastructure required by the former mining operation. Extraction alone could not sustain personnel and equipment; water handling, utilities, maintenance, transport, shelter, and other services were necessary as well.
For later expeditions, access to functioning water or repairable utility infrastructure may be more valuable than another abandoned mine. Restoration, contamination, mechanical failure, sabotage, or competing claims over usable facilities can create practical conflicts whose consequences remain important after an individual expedition ends.
**Subheading**
Tunnel Networks & Encampments
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk's surface areas are connected by extensive artificial and natural passages, including the Cliffside and Ridgecrest tunnel networks, ventilation systems, chasms, and older service routes. These connections make underground travel an important part of movement across the developed region.
During the campaign against Heta Kol, forces loyal to Mandalore the Avenger also operated from Mandalore's Encampment. That site is best understood as a military staging position associated with the conflict rather than evidence of a longstanding civilian settlement.
**Heading**
Flora & Fauna
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk supports life despite its harsh climate. Native vegetation occurs around some water-fed areas, while tinebacks are among the world's best-documented animals.
Tinebacks are heavily built creatures adapted to digging through hard ground and rock. Their varied populations inhabit terrain ranging from canyons to clifftops, making them a practical concern for travelers as well as part of Ruhnuk's ecology.
The most famous reported specimen is Kithrawl, the Flame in Darkness, an enormous and highly unusual tineback associated with the subterranean regions beneath the old mining works. Accounts describe a creature with a blackened, stone-like hide and glowing fissures, but even surviving records treat dramatic claims about its origin with skepticism.
Kithrawl is therefore best approached as an extraordinary documented creature surrounded by uncertain stories rather than proof of an established supernatural or geological explanation.
**Heading**
Travel & Communications
**Standard Text**
Travel to Ruhnuk requires more preparation than travel to an ordinary inhabited world.
The surrounding storm interferes with navigation and communications, and official accounts describe approaches dangerous enough to cause incoming vessels to crash. Characters can nevertheless reach and leave the planet, so the hazard should create difficulty rather than absolute isolation.
A Mandalorian who fought in the Ruhnuk campaign, a former Hidden Chain member, an intelligence service, an experienced navigator, a specialist exploration crew, or an expedition equipped with reliable route information may possess advantages that an ordinary traveler does not.
Exact technical procedures for safe passage are not firmly established. Roleplay therefore does not require a universal navigation device or a single mandatory solution. What matters is the consequence of the environment: delayed communication, uncertain reinforcement, difficult evacuation, damaged vessels, missed arrivals, and limited rescue options can all matter more on Ruhnuk than near a heavily traveled world.
**Heading**
Using Ruhnuk in Roleplay
**Standard Text**
Established material presents Ruhnuk as a sparsely developed industrial world rather than a major settled society. Character connections are therefore easiest to ground through the people and activities that actually brought sentients there: the Gatressa mining operation, later Mandalorian forces, salvage, intelligence work, exploration, engineering, scientific surveys, covert activity, or other deliberate expeditions.
**List**
* Mining & Salvage — Recover machinery, records, minerals, industrial components, or abandoned equipment from damaged sites.* Exploration & Surveying — Map tunnels, investigate inaccessible workings, examine unfamiliar terrain, or document hazards left unstudied since the evacuation.* Mandalorian Aftermath — Revisit former Hidden Chain positions, recover personal or clan property, investigate missing personnel, or confront unresolved consequences of the rebellion.* Engineering & Recovery — Restore water systems, communications equipment, power, transportation links, shelters, or other useful infrastructure.* Wildlife & Ecology — Study native life, secure expedition routes, investigate unusual animals, or manage conflicts between crews and local fauna.* Isolation & Survival — Use unreliable communications, difficult navigation, damaged transports, limited supplies, or failed extraction to make practical decisions consequential.* Covert Operations — The same remoteness that once served the Hidden Chain can support secret meetings, hidden facilities, intelligence work, criminal activity, or operations intended to avoid outside attention.
**Standard Text**
Ruhnuk works especially well when the environment itself limits easy solutions. A damaged vessel may not be able to summon immediate assistance. A missing team may require an actual search. A functioning water system may become more valuable than a cache of weapons. A former Hidden Chain facility may matter because of the people who once occupied it rather than because it contains a galaxy-changing secret.
Roleplay can also leave durable local consequences. Mapping a safer route, recovering an archive, restoring an installation, identifying a new hazard, securing a salvage claim, or establishing a small expeditionary presence can give later characters something concrete to encounter without requiring anyone to claim control of the entire planet.
