Galactic Timeline

Place major conflicts, political transitions, and established StarForgeRP events in chronological context. This timeline helps readers connect character backgrounds, organizations, locations, and continuing stories with the events that preceded them.

Use Era Overview for the circumstances surrounding each period and the Event Directory for fuller explanations of selected turning points. Current Setting establishes StarForgeRP’s shared present and adopted SWTOR story boundary.

BBY means Before the Battle of Yavin. Larger BBY numbers identify earlier years. It is used here as a player-facing reference calendar, not as evidence that Old Republic characters know about the future Battle of Yavin.

BTC and ATC mean Before and After the Treaty of Coruscant. The treaty corresponds to 3653 BBY and serves as year zero. At the year-level precision used here, 28 BTC corresponds to 3681 BBY, and 23 ATC corresponds to 3630 BBY.

• Confirmed date — The relevant source directly establishes the calendar placement.

• Reconstructed date — A working placement derived from chronological evidence and developer guidance.

• Approximate date or period — The evidence supports a general year or range; “c.” means “approximately.”

• Sequence only — Relative order is established, but an exact calendar year is not assigned.

• Established StarForgeRP date — A community-created event has a documented date within shared continuity.

An approximate date does not make the event itself doubtful. Likewise, a precise community date does not independently establish the dates of surrounding SWTOR events. Entries sharing a year are not necessarily arranged in a proven order within that year.

This is a selected historical reference rather than an exhaustive record of every campaign or mission. Historical archives can also contain incomplete knowledge, mistaken conclusions, or partisan accounts. Continuity & Canon explains the broader framework for source differences and shared history.

These earlier conflicts explain historical legacies encountered during SWTOR, including surviving institutions, ruins, teachings, and rivalries.

5000 BBY / 1347 BTC — The Great Hyperspace War

The ancient Sith wage war against the Galactic Republic and suffer defeat. The subsequent survival and rebuilding of the Sith Empire provide the foundation for its much later return.

c. 4000 BBY / c. 347 BTC — Exar Kun and the Great Sith War

Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma lead a Sith challenge to the Republic and Jedi. Their defeat precedes the Mandalorian Wars and leaves dangerous knowledge and damaged worlds behind.

c. 3964–3960 BBY / c. 311–307 BTC — The Later Mandalorian Wars

Revan and Malak enter the struggle against the Mandalorians despite the Jedi Council’s opposition. The Republic’s eventual victory at Malachor V ends this conflict and precedes their return as Sith conquerors.

c. 3959–3956 BBY / c. 306–303 BTC — The Jedi Civil War

SWTOR’s historical archive supplies the principal dates for the Empire’s return, the Republic’s resistance, and the treaty that ends the war.

3681 BBY / 28 BTC — The Sith Empire Returns

A coordinated Imperial invasion begins the Great Galactic War, ending the Republic’s long separation from the concealed Sith power.

3671 BBY / 18 BTC — The Battles of Bothawui

A Republic victory in space is followed by a costly defensive stand on the surface. Bothawui becomes an important turning point in resistance to the Imperial advance.

c. 3667 BBY / c. 14 BTC — The Battle of Alderaan

Republic forces repel the Imperial assault on Alderaan. The battle belongs to the period of renewed Republic resistance following Bothawui.

3667 BBY / 14 BTC — Imperial Manipulation of Mandalorian Leadership

Imperial Intelligence engineers a gladiator’s ascent to Mandalore, preparing a new avenue of pressure against the Republic.

3661 BBY / 8 BTC — The Hydian Way Blockade

Mandalorian forces obstruct the Hydian Way, threatening the Republic’s supply network and drawing attention away from its existing fronts.

3660 BBY / 7 BTC — Hylo Visz Breaks the Blockade

Smugglers led by Hylo Visz, supported by Republic fighters, defeat the blockade and reopen essential supply connections.

3653 BBY / 0 ATC — The Sacking and Treaty of Coruscant

3653–c. 3641 BBY / 0–c. 12 ATC — The Treaty Period

The Republic and Empire rebuild and consolidate while covert operations, territorial confrontations, and political interference undermine the peace. The treaty changes how their rivalry is conducted without resolving it.

c. 3643 BBY / c. 10 ATC — The Original Class Stories Begin

SWTOR’s original class campaigns begin during the later Cold War. Their broad progression overlaps, but individual chapters do not necessarily occupy equal lengths of time.

c. 3641–3640 BBY / c. 12–13 ATC — The Return to Open War

3640 BBY / 13 ATC — Class Campaign Conclusions and Ilum

The original class campaigns conclude during this period. On Ilum, Darth Malgus attempts to replace the existing Imperial order; his rebellion is defeated.

3639 BBY / 14 ATC — Black Hole, Asation, and Section X

The Black Hole crisis, the conflict on Asation, and operations in Section X follow the original campaigns, adding further threats to the ongoing war.

3638 BBY / 15 ATC — Makeb and Oricon

Hutt exploitation of Makeb turns isotope-5 into a strategic resource and places the planet in danger. Later, the confrontation with the Dread Masters reaches its conclusion on Oricon.

3637 BBY / 16 ATC — Forged Alliances and the Revanite Crisis

Attacks on Tython and Korriban lead into the exposure of a conspiracy within both major powers. The Order of Revan pursues the Emperor’s destruction, culminating in the confrontation with Revan on Yavin 4.

3636 BBY / 17 ATC — Ziost and the Emergence of Zakuul

3636–3631 BBY / 17–22 ATC — Conquest and the Outlander’s Captivity

Zakuul’s Eternal Empire subjugates the Republic and Sith Empire, leaving both governments in existence under its supremacy. The Outlander remains imprisoned in carbonite while conquest gives way to occupation and tribute.

3631 BBY / 22 ATC — The Outlander Escapes

The Outlander returns from captivity. Resistance to Arcann begins bringing together personnel, resources, and experience from opposing factions and independent groups.

3630 BBY / 23 ATC — The Alliance and the Eternal Throne

The Alliance forms on Odessen and conducts the campaigns against Arcann and Vaylin. Following Vaylin’s defeat and the final confrontation with Valkorion, the Commander gains the Eternal Throne and control of its fleet.

3629 BBY / 24 ATC — Iokath, Umbara, and Copero

Republic and Imperial forces compete over Iokath. The Alliance’s subsequent operations on Umbara and Copero form part of the crisis that leads toward Nathema.

3628 BBY / 25 ATC — Nathema and Ossus

3627 BBY / 26 ATC — Onslaught

The campaign moves through Onderon and Mek-Sha to the Republic’s shipbuilding facilities on Corellia. The Alliance must confront its relationship with the rival governments as their war intensifies.

Early 3626 BBY / Early 27 ATC — Task at Hand and Echoes of Oblivion

Task at Hand is followed within weeks by Echoes of Oblivion. The struggle against Tenebrae brings the Emperor’s recurring threat to its final confrontation.

Early 3626 BBY / Early 27 ATC — Spirit of Vengeance

Heta Kol’s Hidden Chain attacks Mandalorian ships and seizes significant relics. The assault brings its challenge to Shae Vizla into open conflict.

Early 3626 BBY / Early 27 ATC — Secrets of the Enclave

The following entries preserve the order of selected major story developments after Secrets of the Enclave. Exact calendar years are not assigned to these chapters.

Legacy of the Sith Begins

The Empire seeks control of Manaan’s kolto supply. On Elom, the pursuit of Malgus reaches ancient Sith ruins and brings Darth Nul’s legacy into the unfolding conflict.

Showdown on Ruhnuk

Shae Vizla pursues Heta Kol to her base on Ruhnuk. Their confrontation damages the Hidden Chain without ending its campaign.

Old Wounds

The investigation returns to Voss, where restoration work and contact with the planet’s inhabitants accompany further discoveries concerning Darth Nul.

Chains in the Dark

The conflict reaches Kessan’s Landing on Ord Mantell, where a Hidden Chain strike team brings the struggle into a provincial community.

Desperate Defiance

Sa’har Kateen seeks help recovering Darth Nul’s holocron, turning against Heta Kol, Ri’kan, and the Hidden Chain. The operation leads into Hutta’s Minboosa District.

Galactic Threads

Shae Vizla’s release of Malgus from captivity leaves the Alliance searching for answers. Investigations follow the connected threats surrounding Malgus, Nul’s holocron, and the Hidden Chain.

Master’s Enigma

Republic or Imperial leaders arrive on Odessen to discuss the developing crisis. Darth Jadus makes contact, while exploration of Nul’s research vessel, the Enigma, reveals further evidence of her work.

Legacy Reborn

The competing pursuits converge on Khar Shian, where the Hidden Chain has reconstructed Nul’s machine. Jadus, Malgus, Shae Vizla, and Heta Kol become central to the confrontation.

These events belong to established community continuity. Their dates do not independently resolve the calendar placement of surrounding SWTOR chapters. Events sharing a year should not be assigned an additional sequence without supporting evidence.

3630 BBY / 23 ATC — The Ord Mantell Evacuation Crisis

A hostage crisis and failed civilian evacuation leave Jedi Master Jasmin Dawnseer and multiple civilians dead. Amara Noxstar and Kleya Noxstar survive.

The Ord Mantell Reconstruction preserves the continuing examination of testimony and evidence. The loss of life is established; the full sequence of decisions and allocation of responsibility remain contested.

Later 3630 BBY / 23 ATC — Dragon’s Maw Extraction

Bella and Brina Tenebrix divert Kylia and Raeya Tille from Zakuulan detention and secure their escape during the wider Alliance operation. The detainees subsequently enter monitored Alliance custody and review.

Dragon’s Maw Extraction records the mission. Operational methods and the rescuers’ involvement remain restricted information.

3622 BBY / 31 ATC — The Earlier Korriban Escalation Failure

Captain Maxir Korden exceeds his delegated engagement authority under an inadequately bounded contingency order, contributing to preventable casualties. The resulting review imposes restrictions on his command and corrective action for Major Tarika Kenau’s delegation.

These findings form part of the background to the later Ash Corridor investigation; they do not settle responsibility for that subsequent event.

3621 BBY / 32 ATC — The Ash Corridor Incident

An Imperial Army operation on Korriban suffers casualties amid failures involving communication, coordination, authorization, casualty response, and evidence handling. Medical review identifies preventable or potentially preventable losses, while parts of the sequence and responsibility remain disputed.

Connect history to a specific part of a character’s life: a household, posting, employer, journey, institution, or relationship.

• Check age against established birth information, allowing for uncertain birthdays and approximate event dates.

• Establish where the character was. A major war could affect their livelihood or family without placing them near a battlefield.

• Separate personal experience from education, reporting, testimony, rumor, and restricted records.

• Carry forward concrete consequences such as displacement, interrupted training, lost property, former comrades, or unresolved obligations.

• Leave disputed history open where the evidence remains incomplete, and let participants decide how their characters interpret shared circumstances.
