Galactic Timeline

The Galactic Timeline is the central chronological record of the StarForgeRP setting. It places major events from SWTOR history alongside developments established through StarForgeRP, providing a shared reference for when events occurred, what came before them, and how the galaxy reached its present state.

The Timeline is intentionally selective. It focuses on events that meaningfully affect the political, military, cultural, or narrative landscape of the setting rather than attempting to reproduce every recorded event in galactic history.

Most characters living during StarForgeRP's present day know these events as ancient history, legend, religious tradition, or academic study rather than personal memory. They remain relevant because later Jedi, Sith, Mandalorian, Republic, and Imperial conflicts repeatedly draw upon the people, places, rivalries, and relics they left behind.

5000 BBY / 1347 BTC — The Great Hyperspace War

The ancient Sith Empire under Naga Sadow launched a major invasion of the Galactic Republic. The campaign ultimately failed, and Republic forces pursued the defeated Sith back toward their worlds. Survivors fled into deep space under the ruler who would eventually become the Sith Emperor, laying the distant foundations of the Empire that would return against the Republic centuries later. 

4000 BBY / 347 BTC — The Exar Kun War

The fallen Jedi Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma led forces against the Republic and Jedi Order. Although their movement was distinct from the hidden Sith Empire on Dromund Kaas, the conflict left scars and legacies that continued to influence later Jedi and Sith history, including sites such as Yavin 4 and Ossus.

3964 BBY / 311 BTC — The Mandalorian Wars

Mandalore the Ultimate's campaigns threatened the Republic across the Outer and Mid Rim. Revan and Malak defied the Jedi Council and joined the war, eventually turning the conflict in the Republic's favor. The war ended catastrophically at Malachor V, after which Revan and Malak pursued the surviving Mandalorian forces into deep space and encountered the hidden Sith Empire.

3956 BBY / 303 BTC — The Jedi Civil War

The return of the Sith Empire transformed centuries of hidden preparation into open galactic war. For characters descended from soldiers, refugees, occupied populations, Jedi, Sith, or displaced families, events from this period may remain part of living family history even decades later.

3681 BBY / 28 BTC — The Sith Empire Returns

The Sith Empire emerged from deep space and launched a coordinated surprise offensive against the Republic, beginning the Great Galactic War. Imperial forces struck across the Outer Rim and reclaimed Korriban while the Republic struggled to understand the scale and organization of the attack.

3671 BBY / 18 BTC — The Battle of Bothawui

Republic forces achieved an important victory against an Imperial fleet at Bothawui. When the Empire returned in overwhelming strength, Jedi Master Belth Allusis and the remaining defenders made a celebrated last stand that inflicted severe Imperial losses and became an important symbol of Republic resistance.

3667 BBY / 14 BTC — Imperial Strategy and the Mandalorian Alliance

Unable to secure a rapid victory through military conquest alone, the Sith Empire increasingly relied on manipulation, intelligence operations, and outside allies. Imperial Intelligence helped engineer the rise of a new Mandalore, drawing large numbers of Mandalorians into alliance with the Empire and opening another front against the Republic.

3660 BBY / 7 BTC — The Mandalorian Blockade is Broken

A Mandalorian blockade of a critical Republic trade route placed enormous pressure on the Republic and contributed to shortages within the Core. Smuggler Hylo Visz organized a successful effort to break the blockade, restoring vital traffic and giving the Republic war effort a temporary reprieve.

3653 BBY / 0 ATC — The Sacking of Coruscant and Treaty of Coruscant

3653–3643 BBY / 0–10 ATC — An Uneasy Peace

For roughly a decade after the Treaty of Coruscant, the Republic and Sith Empire existed in a state of formal peace while continuing to compete through espionage, military preparation, proxy conflicts, disputed worlds, and political maneuvering.

For roleplay, this period is important because characters raised during the Cold War may have never experienced official Republic–Imperial peace as anything more than fragile and temporary. Veterans and older civilians, meanwhile, may remember the Great Galactic War and the Sacking of Coruscant directly.

3643 BBY / 10 ATC — The SWTOR Origin Stories Begin

3640 BBY / 13 ATC — Open War and the Battle of Ilum

The Cold War gives way to renewed large-scale conflict between the Republic and Sith Empire. By the end of 13 ATC, the major origin-story campaigns have reached their conclusions and the Battle of Ilum has taken place. Darth Malgus subsequently attempts to establish a rival power independent of the existing Imperial order.

3639 BBY / 14 ATC — Continuing Galactic Conflicts

The Republic and Empire remain at war while new threats emerge beyond the conventional front lines. Conflicts associated with the Black Hole, Section X, Denova, and Asation occur during this period, demonstrating that the galaxy's instability is no longer defined solely by direct Republic–Imperial battles.

3638 BBY / 15 ATC — Makeb and Oricon

The crisis on Makeb draws the Republic and Sith Empire into competition over the strategically valuable world while the Hutt Cartel pursues its own ambitions. Later in the year, the threat posed by the Dread Masters culminates on Oricon.

3637 BBY / 16 ATC — The Shadow of Revan

Attacks on Tython and Korriban expose a growing conspiracy associated with Revan and the Revanites. The crisis eventually brings Republic and Imperial forces to Rishi and Yavin 4, where the two powers temporarily cooperate against the greater threat.

3636 BBY / 17 ATC — Ziost and the Coming of Zakuul

Zakuul's intervention radically disrupts the political order that defined the preceding decades. Characters living through this period may experience invasion, occupation, military collapse, disrupted trade, displacement, divided loyalties, or the disappearance of institutions they once considered permanent.

3636–3631 BBY / 17–22 ATC — The Eternal Empire Ascendant

The Eternal Empire overwhelms both the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire. During the approximately five years in which the Outlander remains imprisoned in carbonite, Zakuul establishes dominance over much of the galaxy and the old powers suffer severe military and political losses.

3631–3630 BBY / 22–23 ATC — The Alliance Rises

3629 BBY / 24 ATC — Iokath, Umbara, and Copero

The unity created by the war against Zakuul begins to fracture. Conflict on Iokath draws the Republic and Sith Empire back into direct competition, while later events on Umbara and Copero expose internal betrayals and deepen the instability surrounding the Alliance.

3628 BBY / 25 ATC — Nathema and the Attack on Ossus

3627 BBY / 26 ATC — Onslaught

With the common threat of Zakuul gone and the Alliance significantly weakened, open conflict between the Republic and Sith Empire intensifies again. Campaigns on Onderon, Mek-Sha, and Corellia become major fronts in the renewed war, while the Alliance Commander must determine how closely the Alliance will align with either galactic power.

3626 BBY / 27 ATC — The Task at Hand and the Final Defeat of Tenebrae

SWTOR narrative guidance places The Task at Hand at the beginning of 27 ATC. Subsequent events occur relatively soon afterward and include the final confrontation with the surviving presence of Tenebrae, Vitiate, and Valkorion, bringing the ancient Sith Emperor's long history to an end.

3626 BBY / 27 ATC — The Hidden Chain and Secrets of the Enclave

From this point forward, the sequence of SWTOR's major story updates is established, but exact individual in-universe years are not firmly published in the same way as the earlier chronology. StarForgeRP should therefore preserve the order of these events without assigning unsupported precise dates.

After 3626 BBY / 27 ATC — Legacy of the Sith Begins

Renewed fighting on Manaan unfolds alongside Darth Malgus's pursuit of knowledge connected to the ancient Sith Darth Nul. Events on Elom deepen the mystery surrounding Nul's legacy and Malgus's objectives, beginning a conflict that increasingly intersects with the Mandalorian civil struggle surrounding Heta Kol and the Hidden Chain.

Later — Showdown on Ruhnuk

Shae Vizla's pursuit of Heta Kol leads to Ruhnuk, where the Hidden Chain has established a base. The confrontation further exposes the divisions within contemporary Mandalorian society and connects Heta Kol's rebellion more closely to the larger struggle surrounding Darth Nul and Malgus.

Later — Chains in the Dark

The Hidden Chain conflict reaches Kessan's Landing on Ord Mantell. Allies and enemies continue maneuvering around the growing Mandalorian crisis while the consequences of the struggle on Ruhnuk spread beyond the immediate confrontation between Shae Vizla and Heta Kol.

Later — Desperate Defiance

Sa'har Kateen seeks help recovering Darth Nul's holocron, placing her in direct conflict with Heta Kol, Ri'kan Kateen, and the Hidden Chain. The struggle returns to Hutta and pushes the competing searches for Nul's legacy into a more dangerous phase.

Later — Galactic Threads

The search for Darth Malgus and the struggle over Darth Nul's legacy converge more closely. The Alliance pursues answers surrounding Malgus, the holocron, and the Hidden Chain as the separate conflicts that have developed throughout the era begin moving toward the same conclusion.

Later — Master's Enigma

The search surrounding Darth Nul leads to a direct confrontation with Darth Jadus and the exploration of a research vessel connected to Nul's work. These discoveries establish the immediate circumstances leading into the final stage of the Legacy of the Sith storyline.

Later — Legacy Reborn
