Odessen
**Small Text / Caption**
Wild Space · Remote temperate wilderness · Strong, balanced Force affinity · Headquarters of the Alliance against Zakuul
**Standard Text**
Odessen is a remote world in Wild Space whose galactic importance changed dramatically during the war against the Eternal Empire. Before the Alliance arrived, it was an unsettled planet of lush wilderness, mountains, abundant wildlife, and few signs of large-scale development.
Its isolation made it valuable. After Asylum proved unsuitable as a permanent headquarters, Lana Beniko was drawn to Odessen through the Force and selected the world as the base of the coalition forming around the Outlander. From there, Republic veterans, former Imperials, Force-users, scientists, smugglers, Mandalorians, defectors, mercenaries, and other specialists learned to operate within the same broader war effort.
Odessen consequently became more than a hidden base. It was a place where earlier political divisions were disrupted, new professional relationships formed, and a temporary resistance developed into the **Eternal Alliance** ([Eternal Alliance page](https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/factions-powers/eternal-alliance?utm_source=chatgpt.com)).

Suggested Placement:
Immediately below the introduction, before Quick Reference.
Suggested Subject / Description:
A wide SWTOR-era view of Odessen showing the Alliance Base integrated into forested cliffs and mountainous wilderness. The composition should establish both the planet's natural isolation and the scale of the headquarters without making the developed area look like a planet-wide city.
Suggested Format:
4:3 landscape website image.
Visual Continuity:
Use the established StarForgeRP cinematic environmental treatment. Keep the base clearly readable at approximately 440 × 330 px, with substantial surrounding terrain so Odessen remains recognizable as a wilderness world rather than only as a military installation.
Era / Lore Requirements:
Architecture, landing facilities, terminals, vehicles, equipment, and other technology should use SWTOR/Old Republic visual language. The base should feel like the mixed Alliance headquarters seen during the conflict with Zakuul rather than a Republic, Imperial, Rebel Alliance, First Order, or later-era installation. Preserve dense vegetation, rocky slopes, mountains, mist, and the cool temperate character established for Odessen. Do not depict the entire planet as urbanized.
Reference Material:
Official SWTOR depictions of Odessen's wilderness, Alliance Base, and Proving Grounds may be used as visual research references. Create a new composition rather than reproducing an existing screenshot.

Image Generation Prompt
Image Subject
A broad environmental view of Odessen during the SWTOR era, centered on the Alliance headquarters built into and among steep forested cliffs. Dense temperate vegetation, dark rocky slopes, distant mountains, light mist, and natural waterways or moisture should establish the planet as a secluded wilderness world. The headquarters should include restrained Old Republic-era Alliance architecture, connected platforms, bridges, landing facilities, illuminated interiors, technical structures, and limited vessel activity integrated into the terrain rather than overwhelming it.
The scene should communicate that a major military, logistical, scientific, administrative, and Force-related headquarters has been established within an otherwise largely undeveloped world. Structures may show the mixed practical design language of a coalition assembled from different galactic backgrounds, but do not invent a new lore-significant uniform architectural identity, emblem, or monumental capital complex.
No famous character needs to appear. Small distant personnel may be present only to establish scale. Do not add lightsabers, visible combat, giant fleets, readable signs, faction propaganda, Republic or Imperial ownership markings, or later-era Star Wars architecture. The principal visual contrast should be advanced Alliance infrastructure surrounded by expansive, misty Odessen wilderness.
Core Prompt
Create an original 4:3 visual for the StarForgeRP website based on the Image Subject described above.
Use a realistic, cinematic concept-art presentation appropriate to Star Wars: The Old Republic and the broader Old Republic era. The image should feel grounded, detailed, atmospheric, and believable, with restrained visual storytelling rather than exaggerated spectacle.
Maintain visual compatibility with the broader StarForgeRP artwork collection without forcing every subject into identical colors or lighting. Dark blue, navy, charcoal, muted metallic tones, cool environmental light, and selective warm gold or amber illumination may provide a recurring visual foundation where appropriate. Allow the natural colors of a character, world, culture, environment, object, or scene to remain recognizable when they are important to the subject.
Compose the scene according to what it needs to communicate. Characters, locations, landscapes, historical scenes, artifacts, architecture, starships, organizations, cultural subjects, technology, and archival compositions do not require identical framing. Give the primary subject a clear visual focus while allowing the surrounding environment to provide useful context, scale, and atmosphere.
Prioritize SWTOR-era and Old Republic-era visual language. Clothing, armor, architecture, starships, weapons, equipment, terminals, droids, vehicles, furnishings, and other technology should feel appropriate to that period when they appear. Avoid designs strongly associated with later Star Wars eras unless the individual Image Subject specifically requires them.
When the subject is tied to a particular faction, organization, culture, location, historical period, or StarForgeRP development, follow the supplied lore and continuity information rather than replacing it with generic Star Wars imagery.
Do not invent lore-significant uniforms, insignia, technology, architecture, symbols, relationships, events, or outcomes merely to make the image more elaborate.
When an uncertain detail is not necessary to the composition, it may remain visually unspecified.
Where appropriate, use environmental depth, atmospheric haze, practical or holographic illumination, weather, planetary terrain, architecture, machinery, interiors, crowds, distant activity, or culturally appropriate surroundings.
Background detail should support the primary subject and help establish the setting without overwhelming the composition.
For original StarForgeRP characters and other community-created subjects, follow supplied descriptions and reference material when available.
Preserve specifically requested identifying features, proportions, clothing, equipment, markings, colors, or other established design elements while creating a new composition rather than closely reproducing unrelated artwork.
If no reference image is supplied, create an original interpretation from the written description. Do not request a reference merely because one could improve precision.
Weapons should appear only when relevant to the subject.
Lightsabers should not be added merely as general Star Wars decoration; include them only when they meaningfully belong to the character, event, location, activity, or subject being depicted.
Do not include titles, captions, logos, borders, watermarks, webpage elements, decorative written language, readable interface labels, or other visible text unless the individual Image Subject specifically calls for them.
Compose the artwork for a 4:3 frame.
Keep important faces, characters, objects, landmarks, vehicles, and other essential visual information comfortably within the composition, with enough surrounding space to prevent important details from being lost near the edges.
The primary subject should remain recognizable and readable when the image is displayed on StarForgeRP at approximately 440 × 330 px.

Environment & the Force
**Standard Text**
Odessen remains a wilderness world despite the importance of the Alliance headquarters. SWTOR describes it as a hidden oasis with a mild climate, lush vegetation, mountains, and varied wildlife. The landscapes encountered around the base also include steep slopes, rocky valleys, caves, rivers, waterfalls, and extensive forest.
The Alliance occupies a strategically important developed area, but the headquarters should not be treated as though it has transformed the entire planet into a city or industrial colony. Away from its facilities, Odessen can support exploration, field training, scientific surveys, reconnaissance, survival stories, private meetings, searches, and other situations in which distance from the base matters.
Odessen's connection to the Force is one of the world's defining features. SWTOR distinguishes it from worlds strongly associated with one side of the Force, describing Odessen's affinity as balanced. That characteristic helped make it suitable for an Alliance containing Jedi, Sith, Voss Mystics, and Force-sensitive people from other backgrounds.
“Balanced” should not be treated as synonymous with spiritually neutral, devoid of influence, or committed to a single philosophy. The planet does not automatically reconcile Jedi and Sith teachings, suppress the dark side, create a particular type of Force-user, or determine how every sensitive visitor interprets what they experience.
During the war against Arcann, the Outlander also encountered Satele Shan and the spirit of Darth Marr within Odessen's wilderness, giving the planet additional significance within the Force-related history of the Alliance era.

History

From Wilderness to Alliance Headquarters
**Standard Text**
Before the Alliance arrived, SWTOR described Odessen as remote and unsettled rather than as an established Republic, Imperial, or Zakuulan population center.
That obscurity became an advantage during the struggle against the **Eternal Empire** ([Eternal Empire page](https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/factions-powers/eternal-empire?utm_source=chatgpt.com)). When Asylum could no longer serve as a permanent base, Lana Beniko searched for a world capable of sheltering the coalition forming around the Outlander. Odessen's isolation, natural environment, and unusual Force presence made it an unusually suitable choice.
The new headquarters brought together personnel whose earlier affiliations might otherwise have placed them on opposite sides of a war. Republic and Imperial personnel trained together there, while Force-users, scientists, mercenaries, smugglers, Mandalorians, defectors, intelligence specialists, pilots, technicians, medics, and others contributed to the wider campaign against Zakuul.
That cooperation created relationships and tensions that could outlast the conflict itself. Serving the same Alliance did not require people to abandon their earlier cultures, beliefs, citizenship, professional traditions, or political loyalties.

The Battles for Odessen
**Standard Text**
Odessen's secrecy did not last.
After SCORPIO revealed the location of the Alliance headquarters, Arcann launched a full-scale assault against the planet. The resulting Battle of Odessen forced the Alliance to defend its base while the Outlander attempted to reach Arcann directly. From that point onward, Odessen was no longer merely a hidden refuge; it was a known strategic center of organized resistance to Zakuulan rule.
The planet came under major attack again during Vaylin's reign. Her assault brought heavy fighting to the Alliance headquarters and cost many lives before the Commander defeated her on Odessen. The struggle then continued on Zakuul, where control of the Eternal Throne passed to the Commander.
These attacks are important to the character of the modern base. Personnel serving there inhabit a headquarters with a history of enemy penetration, bombardment, casualties, emergency defense, and repeated strategic targeting. Security concerns, evacuation planning, damaged infrastructure, memorialization, veteran relationships, and institutional memory can therefore matter without requiring every story to recreate the original battles.

After Zakuul
**Standard Text**
Victory over the Eternal Empire changed the Alliance, but it did not make Odessen obsolete.
The destruction of the Gravestone and most of the Alliance's great fleet during the Nathema crisis ended the period in which the Alliance possessed overwhelming galactic military power. Meanwhile, the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire returned to open war, changing the political circumstances that had originally brought so many former enemies together.
Odessen nevertheless continued to appear as an operational and diplomatic location in later SWTOR stories. Republic or Imperial representatives have traveled there for strategic discussions, and much later events surrounding the Mandalorian conflict, Darth Nul's holocron, and Darth Malgus again brought senior galactic leadership to the planet.
The result is a world shaped by an earlier war without being frozen inside it.
**Heading**
The Alliance Base
**Standard Text**
The Alliance Base is Odessen's principal developed location and the reason most offworld visitors have contact with the planet.
Built among cliffs and wilderness, the headquarters supports command, military operations, research, logistics, Force-related activity, landing and transport needs, accommodation, maintenance, training, medical care, administration, and the ordinary support work required to keep a large organization functioning.
During the war against Zakuul, Alliance activity was organized around major military, Force, research, and underworld-logistics functions. The Odessen Proving Grounds also provided a specialized training area in which Republic and Imperial personnel could learn to operate within mixed-faction teams.
For roleplay, the base should not be reduced to senior commanders and famous SWTOR characters. Mechanics, medics, pilots, researchers, technicians, quartermasters, security personnel, administrators, intelligence analysts, translators, couriers, contractors, archivists, cooks, diplomats, visitors, and other specialists can all have believable reasons to work there.
SWTOR does not provide a complete architectural survey, staffing table, population count, or definitive inventory of every facility. Details not established by the game can therefore remain appropriately flexible rather than being turned into unsupported fixed geography.

Life, Travel & Access
**Standard Text**
Odessen's modern community developed around an organization rather than an old planetary society.
Many of its residents arrived because of the war against Zakuul or because the Alliance later required their skills. A person living on Odessen may still identify strongly with another homeworld, faction, culture, profession, Force tradition, clan, or community. Years spent at the headquarters do not erase those earlier connections.
For some people, however, Odessen can genuinely become home. Wartime colleagues may become friends, partners, rivals, mentors, neighbors, or family. Someone who arrived as a refugee, defector, recruit, contractor, or specialist may have spent a substantial part of their adult life there even though neither they nor their ancestors originated on the planet.
That history makes ordinary life useful for roleplay. Work shifts, maintenance disputes, professional rivalries, friendships, research projects, medical duties, supply problems, training, meals, housing, bureaucracy, homesickness, personal relationships, and disagreements between people with radically different backgrounds can make the headquarters feel inhabited.
The base should also not be treated as an unrestricted public space merely because players can freely use portions of it in-game. SWTOR does not define every visitor-clearance or landing procedure, but a functioning strategic headquarters has good reason to control sensitive areas and incoming traffic.
Visitors therefore benefit from a believable reason to be present: Alliance service, an invitation, a diplomatic or military delegation, specialist work, contracting, delivery, approved research, technical support, recruitment, an official meeting, or another established connection. The surrounding wilderness can provide greater freedom for exploration while still carrying the risks associated with remote terrain and distance from support.

Odessen in StarForgeRP Continuity
**Standard Text**
In StarForgeRP's present-day continuity, Odessen remains an active center for Alliance personnel and institutions rather than only a historical battlefield.
Established character material places Alliance administrative, mediation, archive, compliance, and command-related activity on the planet, including personnel who live and work from Odessen. Those local functions allow the world to support continuing stories involving records, interdepartmental disputes, visiting delegations, evidence custody, institutional accountability, logistics, intelligence, and other work far removed from the original campaign against Zakuul.
The broader political circumstances of the Alliance are covered through the **Eternal Alliance** ([Eternal Alliance page](https://www.starforgerp.com/lore/factions-powers/eternal-alliance?utm_source=chatgpt.com)), while the wider Republic–Imperial war and current galactic situation are maintained through **Current Setting** ([Current Setting page](https://www.starforgerp.com/timeline/current-setting?utm_source=chatgpt.com)).
Odessen therefore works best as a place with several layers of history at once: an unsettled wilderness, a wartime headquarters, the site of major battles, a community formed from former enemies and displaced people, and a continuing institutional center whose residents must live with everything that came before.

Using Odessen in Roleplay
**Standard Text**
A connection to Odessen can come from much more than participation in the original Alliance campaign.
**List**
* A veteran may have served during the war against Zakuul and formed lasting relationships with people from former enemy factions.* A later arrival may know Odessen primarily as a workplace, administrative center, research site, training location, residence, or diplomatic destination.* A visitor may arrive for an authorized meeting, investigation, delivery, technical assignment, negotiation, recovery effort, Force-related purpose, or specialist consultation.* Characters stationed at the base may disagree about what the Alliance represents now, how much earlier loyalties still matter, or whether wartime cooperation created obligations that survive renewed Republic–Imperial conflict.* Force-sensitive characters can interpret Odessen's unusual Force presence according to their own training and beliefs rather than receiving one predetermined spiritual experience.* Wilderness stories can involve surveys, searches, training, archaeological or scientific questions, missing personnel, concealed equipment, dangerous terrain, unusual wildlife, or discoveries away from the developed headquarters.
**Standard Text**
Odessen is especially effective for bringing together characters who have a believable professional or historical reason to meet despite different political backgrounds.
Not every story needs to involve the Alliance Commander, an Eternal Fleet, or another galaxy-changing crisis. A contested report, delayed shipment, missing patrol, visiting delegation, research dispute, damaged system, old wartime relationship, security concern, professional rivalry, wilderness expedition, or unexpected reunion can create consequences that matter to the people involved without rewriting SWTOR history.
Open situations intended to involve other players can connect naturally to **RP Hooks** ([RP Hooks page](https://www.starforgerp.com/roleplay/rp-hooks?utm_source=chatgpt.com)).
