Governments, clan alliances, and other political powers influence where people can travel, whom they work for, and whose authority they encounter. Their histories shape communities as well as battlefields.
Explore the references below to understand each power’s institutions, interests, and connections. Organizations covers orders, armed services, intelligence agencies, companies, and criminal networks. Current Setting establishes StarForgeRP’s shared present and the political developments affecting contemporary stories.
Republic–Imperial warfare continues in StarForgeRP’s shared present. Its effects reach diplomacy, industrial production, transport, and civilian life, with circumstances differing between secure communities and contested worlds.
The Republic unites member worlds through representation in the Galactic Senate. Its commitments to democracy and individual rights coexist with political bargaining, inequality, and disputes over whose needs government should serve.
Citizenship, public employment, military service, and commercial ties offer different connections to Republic life. A reconstruction worker, senator’s aide, displaced resident, and veteran may support the same government while disagreeing about its decisions.
Rebuilt from the survivors of an earlier Sith state, the Empire places political authority in Sith hands. Its power also depends on conventional forces, administration, industry, and civilian labor. Imperial citizenship and Sith status are distinct.
Life within its hierarchy brings unequal access to protection, advancement, and freedom. A character’s involvement may grow from conviction, family ties, professional responsibility, dependence, coercion, or resistance.
These powers have their own political structures and interests. Their relationships with the Republic and Empire range from negotiated allegiance to independent cooperation and rivalry.
The Cartel joins Hutt clans in commercial and criminal enterprise while exercising authority over worlds and communities. Wealth and shared interests enable cooperation, but competition between patrons can turn business disputes into violent struggles.
A shipping agreement, outstanding debt, palace appointment, or threatened livelihood can bring characters into its influence. Identify the patron and local circumstances involved: residence under Hutt authority, paid employment, enslavement, and personal allegiance describe very different relationships.
Based in the Unknown Regions, the Ascendancy maintains its own government and armed forces within an unequal alliance with the Sith Empire. The agreement preserves Chiss administration of their worlds while committing military support and resources to Imperial interests.
House connections, diplomatic work, and military assignments can create overlapping responsibilities. An Ascendancy representative cooperating with Imperial personnel holds a different position from a Chiss who has personally entered Imperial service.
Mandalorian clans belong to a wider cultural community whose military strength has repeatedly influenced galactic affairs. They retain their own leaders and interests, sometimes gathering under a Mandalore—a title that is not inherited automatically.
Clan obligations, mercenary work, family relationships, and disagreements over leadership provide distinct foundations for stories. Cultural belonging does not establish one permanent political allegiance for every Mandalorian. Consult Current Setting for the present leadership circumstances and consequences of recent conflict.
The Alliance assembled Republic, Imperial, and independent participants to resist the Eternal Empire. Its victory brought control of the Eternal Fleet; that fleet’s later destruction ended its overwhelming military advantage.
In StarForgeRP continuity, the Alliance remains independent, with its headquarters on Odessen. Surviving forces, specialist teams, and personal connections sustain its work. Shared service offers reasons for former enemies to cooperate, while renewed war can place old colleagues under conflicting obligations.
Ruling from Zakuul, the Eternal Empire forced the Republic and Sith Empire into submission through the strength of the Eternal Fleet. The Alliance defeated its ruling dynasty, while Zakuulan society continued beyond imperial rule.
Its history remains personal for former officials, Knights, resistance members, prisoners, veterans, and civilians. Surviving machinery, disputed records, disrupted livelihoods, and memories of occupation can bring those experiences into present-day stories.

Begin with a specific relationship to power: the authority issuing an order, the employer paying a crew, or the community seeking protection. Citizenship, employment, cultural identity, and personal loyalty may pull a character in different directions.
Whose decision has an immediate effect on the character’s life?
What does that authority provide, demand, or threaten?
Which personal relationship crosses a political boundary?
What could the character lose by complying, refusing, or leaving?
Who else has a stake in the outcome?
A contested cargo, divided household, or negotiation over local protection can give several characters meaningful choices. Establish shared involvement together and allow the consequences to develop through play.
