Vashara Estate

The Vashara Estate occupies the upper perimeter of Kaas City on Dromund Kaas. Controlled by House Vashara, it combines a family residence with facilities for administration, Sith apprenticeship, historical preservation, and authorized investigative work. Its household includes the Vashara twins, their apprentices, specialist personnel, and a long-serving steward droid.

Darth Zera Vashara and Darth Zylia Vashara make the estate their home and principal House base. Zera’s work centers on examining evidence and establishing defensible findings; Zylia’s emphasizes protection, preservation, and continuity. Their mother, Sira Vashara, remains a continuing House authority. Family responsibilities accompany the twins’ separate professional commitments, bringing personal loyalties into decisions about what the household preserves and discloses.

Markus Rez, Zera’s apprentice, lives and trains here while undertaking delegated investigative work. Cale Oldin, apprenticed to Zylia, prepares for protective assignments, escorts, and controlled transfers. Their responsibilities can bring them together around the same evidence or witness, although neither apprenticeship places its holder above the other. Lessons, preparation, reporting, and correction shape their daily lives alongside the uncertainty of learning when to act independently.

Visitors require permission suited to their purpose. A household invitation, apprenticeship, or professional assignment provides a reason to enter particular spaces; protected archives and systems retain their own restrictions. Markus’s residence and investigative credentials, for example, do not allow him to bypass House archive controls.

House authority and Imperial appointments remain distinct. Zera’s writ authorizes defined investigative work. Zylia’s Military Command responsibilities arise through her own assignments and sponsorship. Cooperation between them does not combine their mandates or place every household resource under either Imperial office.

Cale may protect people, secure material, or carry out a transfer within authenticated instructions. Those responsibilities do not empower him to interpret disputed evidence or overrule its custodians. Likewise, VSR-9 may refuse certification that surviving evidence cannot support and document contested instructions, while remaining accountable within its House responsibilities.

Protected storage, technical safeguards, security personnel, and documented handling support the work. Maintenance must account for the integrity of both records and droid memory. Damaged systems, incomplete logs, disputed credentials, and conflicting instructions can interrupt a review or make a proposed transfer unsafe.

House tradition identifies Vanessa Vashara, a covert operative associated with Revan’s Sith forces during the Jedi Civil War, as the family’s ancestral founder. Her connection to the later household on Dromund Kaas survives through an incomplete generational record. The estate’s construction date remains unknown. Vanessa’s Sith holocron preserves teachings and recollections, but its account reflects her own knowledge and omissions.

VSR-9 entered House service on Dromund Kaas in 3699 BBY. Its administrative responsibilities developed into succession authentication and historical reconstruction, providing a continuing connection between successive House administrations.

Lord Valen Vashara died in 3646 BBY, aged 45, with his procurement-integrity investigation unfinished. Records of purchasing, contracting, freight, authorization, and custody survived him. Their preservation gave later investigators something to examine without establishing his conclusions, the cause of his death, or responsibility for it.

During the later period of Zakuulan domination, protected systems and duplicate repositories helped preserve House material through institutional disruption. Survival remained incomplete: gaps in memory and documentation continued to limit reconstruction.

An invitation, apprenticeship, specialist task, or agreed exchange can bring characters to the estate. Household scenes can develop independently of its connected investigations.
