A geographic reference for the worlds, regions, routes, and stories of StarForgeRP.
The galaxy is more than a collection of isolated worlds. Distance, neighboring systems, hyperspace access, regional geography, and changing political conditions can all affect how characters travel, communicate, conduct business, wage war, or become involved in a story.
Use the Galactic Map to place StarForgeRP locations within the wider geography of the Star Wars: The Old Republic era, compare several destinations, follow stories across multiple systems, or find settings that connect naturally to characters and organizations already in the archive.
Treat the map as a guide to relative geography and connections rather than a precise measure of travel time or permanent political control. Individual Galaxy entries provide the more detailed information needed to understand a particular world's local conditions, accessibility, communities, affiliations, and StarForgeRP continuity.
Where is it? Consider the world's broader region, neighboring systems, and position relative to places already important to the character or story.
How is it connected? A major hyperspace route can make widely separated systems important to one another through trade, migration, military logistics, or regular travel.
What surrounds it? Nearby powers, contested systems, commercial centers, frontier space, or isolated territory may help explain who passes through the area and what kinds of stories arise there.
What scale matters? A region, sector, star system, planet, settlement, facility, and individual landmark describe very different levels of geography. Follow the more specific Galaxy entry when a story needs a closer view.
What may have changed? Geography is comparatively stable. Political control, military presence, access, security, and local conditions may not be.
Star Wars uses several overlapping ways to describe galactic space. Broad astrographic regions such as the Core Worlds, Inner Rim, Mid Rim, Outer Rim Territories, Wild Space, and Unknown Regions exist alongside sectors, star systems, named areas such as Hutt Space, and regional groupings used by SWTOR itself.
These labels should not be treated as though they all belong to one rigid hierarchy. For definitions, regional context, and the relationships between systems, sectors, and larger areas of space, see Regions, Sectors & Systems.
Regional geography can suggest useful circumstances, but it does not determine a world's culture, government, economy, safety, or population. Two locations in the same broad region may have very different histories and relationships with the wider galaxy.
Straight-line distance is only one part of interstellar travel. Established hyperspace routes can connect systems across enormous distances and make particular corridors disproportionately important to commerce, supply, migration, communication, and military operations.
The Great Galactic War demonstrated how consequential those routes could become. The Mandalorian blockade of the Hydian Way disrupted a critical Republic trade and supply route linking the Outer Rim, the Colonies, and the Core Worlds. Geography therefore matters not only because of where two locations appear on a map, but because of how ships can reliably travel between them.
When travel matters to a story, consider:
whether an established hyperspace route connects the locations;
whether the destination is a major system or an isolated one;
whether reliable navigation data is available;
whether warfare, blockades, restricted space, piracy, or other hazards affect the route;
whether the journey reasonably involves transfers, resupply, repairs, or indirect routing;
and whether the journey itself is important enough to become part of the story.
Not every trip needs to become a logistics exercise. Travel details are most useful when they establish believable context, create meaningful limitations, introduce encounters, or produce consequences that improve the roleplay.
The Galactic Map is primarily geographic. A planet's position does not by itself establish who governs it, which military forces are present, whether a route is safe, or how much practical authority a distant government exercises there.
Those circumstances can change through war, diplomacy, occupation, local politics, criminal influence, and StarForgeRP continuity. When present-day political or military conditions matter, use Current Setting together with the relevant Galaxy entry rather than assuming that an entire region shares one condition.
When historical control or earlier conflicts matter instead, consult the Galactic Timeline. A political overlay on the map should therefore be treated as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent border.
StarForgeRP uses established SWTOR geography as its primary foundation. Compatible Legends cartography may supplement that foundation when SWTOR does not provide enough detail, while StarForgeRP-created locations may be added where they expand the shared setting without displacing established worlds or contradicting important known geography.
Where a location cannot be placed with confidence, approximate placement is preferable to invented precision.
Established SWTOR — locations or geographic information directly established by Star Wars: The Old Republic or closely related official SWTOR material.
Supplementary Legends — compatible Legends geography used where it can reasonably supplement the SWTOR-era setting.
StarForgeRP — community-created locations or geographic developments established within shared StarForgeRP continuity.
Uncertain / Approximate — locations or details whose precise placement cannot currently be established with sufficient confidence.
These distinctions allow the map to grow alongside StarForgeRP while keeping established geography, supplementary material, community continuity, and uncertain placement visibly separate.
A point on a map becomes useful when it connects to people, places, and consequences.
A character's birthplace may help explain their relationships and opportunities. A trade route may connect organizations operating on different worlds. A nearby conflict may produce refugees, shortages, deployments, salvage work, criminal opportunities, or disrupted business. An isolated system may make outside assistance difficult or allow local problems to develop without immediate galactic attention.
After finding a promising world or region, follow its Galaxy entries to discover the settlements, organizations, characters, and earlier events already associated with it. Active and archived stories can then be explored through Roleplay.
The map provides the larger picture. The rest of the archive shows what that geography means for the people living within it.
